You will be pushed and challenged physically and mentally, but within your own capacity, to facilitate growth.
Training over the three days will be a combination of the following elements:
1. Understanding stress and pressure, their underlying mechanisms, and the effects they have on your body and mind.
2. Equipping you with scientifically backed skills so you can leverage stress and pressure to your advantage while optimising performance and balancing your nervous system.
3. Putting you in practical, real-time, and dynamic situations that will test your ability to apply your new knowledge and skills.
Training Components

You will receive the same targeted training that we deliver to our elite-level athletes and senior leaders. We focus on giving you the skills you need to control and optimise key body systems, enabling cutting-edge performance. All aspects of the training will be tailored to your specific needs.
• You will spend three full days immersed in 1:1 training at Piha beach. Dive deep into all aspects of movement, mental game, recovery and breathwork in dynamic settings, in person.
• This also includes an online session prior, and a follow up online session after your intensive, to make sure you’re on track with the programming.
What You Will Learn

Immersive training: Combines theory, skill and practical simulations to embed learning.
• Mental skills development. Focus and unlock creativity in high stress, high pressure environments. Learn key mental skills that are easy to integrate into your existing training regime.
• Stress tolerance training. Improving your ability
to work with agitation and leverage stress to your advantage. Develop an in-depth awareness and ability to control your body’s stress response.
• Optimising recovery. Improving your ability to shift into a calm, centered and focused state as a daily practic, getting the balance right between stress and recovery.
• Performance breathing. A breathing programme that directly targets your respiratory system in order to improve your breathing capacity, endurance, recovery, power production and mental focus.
• Ironsand Training. A unique system of training that incorporates all of the integrated training pillars into a dynamic beach training session.
• Pool training. A challenging environment where every aspect of the training can be tested and applied.
• Decompression and Mobility. Optimise your muscular skeletal system to enhance strength & recovery.
• Contrast therapy. Learn the application for icebaths and sauna when it comes to mental skill development and improving your stress tolerance and control.
• Introducing sleep protocols to help you recover optimally.
• Mindset training. Improve your response to tough situations, thoughts, emotions and avoid overthinking. This is about creating a clear system and framework for the most important thing you have - Your mind. Identify subconscious patterns of behaviour that are detrimental to health and performance and using these to develop personalised mindset protocols.
• Stress & Recovery. Getting the balance right, improving your ability to shift rapidly between
energised and relaxed states on demand.
Accomodation

Our cottage, aptly named Pinecone Cottage, is about two minutes walk to Piha beach, where the majority of the training takes place. The cottage is private and is the perfect place for you to remain removed from the noise, relax and reflect.
The cottage is completely self sufficient and has everything you need, including a sauna, spa and plenty of storage for any gear you might bring with you.
You are welcome to find accomodation elsewhere in Piha, but the Cottage is included in the Three Day Intensive pricing.

“It was a massive eye opener, Dave is incredibly in tune with the mind and body, he had me sussed out pretty much as soon as we started but waited a couple of hours to sit down and talk to me about what he’s observed.
Some things I was aware of, but others I wasn’t, it related to the way I moved, my breathing, carrying tension, stress, mindset, individually they weren’t massive, but when you start putting all those issues together it has a massive effect on the way you move and the way you feel.

The focus of the 3-day intensive was stripping everything back to how you relate to your environment, both internal and external. Stripping everything back to basics may be simple, but it’s not necessarily easy. Dave makes it simple in the sense that you can practice various stress mitigation techniques in real time, recalibrating ways of operating that might not be serving you.
The thing I can hear still hear Dave saying is “don’t tether to the end” and I think that is applicable to so many situations. When we tie ourselves to a certain thought, sensation, or outcome (for example, focusing on getting out of an uncomfortable situation), we find it harder. The experiential learning Dave took me through was pretty sweet in shifting my way of operating in relation to this. The way I relate to my thoughts and experiences has changed after my 3 days in Piha with Dave – I feel more equipped to move through challenges and continuously learn ways of navigating all the stuff that is part of life.”
