2-day Workshop.
In this workshop you will master practical skills relating to the control of your body and mind’s response to stress and pressure situations. YOU WILL LEARN
Read
You will learn the same mind/body training that we implement with elite level athletes to ensure they can control the mental aspects of performance.
However, this workshop is for anybody who is looking to optimise their health and performance whether you’re an athlete, professional a mum or a dad.
You will learn how to control key body systems in dynamic settings to improve endurance, focus, creativity, strength and power.
The workshop is a unique combination of theory-based knowledge, skill acquisition and practical applications that will teach you:
· How to better control your energy output by fluidly transitioning between sympathetic and parasympathetic states (energised vs relaxed). This will have a profound effect on your ability to recover faster, clear your mind and be present, sleep better and remain calm and in control in stressful situations, while having better mental focus throughout the day.
· The role of stress in shaping your response to challenging situations and how to control its effects on the body and mind. You will learn the underlying mechanisms so that you can start to leverage stress to your advantage.
· Cold water immersion – contrast therapy, beach training and pool session to reinforce learning in dynamic practical settings.
· Science based tools and protocols to rebalance your nervous system and train your mind stop latching to the past and future.
· Establishing a protocol and framework for one of the most important thing you have, your mindset. You will work to unravel some of your subconscious patterns of behaviour that are detrimental to your health, personal growth and performance. The biggest change often comes with awareness alone. This is the first step to rewiring the way you think, act and deal with life’s stressors.
· How to perform during crucial moments by remaining task focused and avoiding overthinking.
· How to include controlling your breathing and nervous systems into regular training. You will learn how to use your breathing to illicit a calm state and how to use your breathing system to enhance health and performance.
· Throughout the 2 days you will find yourself transitioning between theory session, skill acquisition sessions and practical application that challenge you both physically and mentally. By incorporating these 3 facets of learning we start to make substantial and sustainable change.

“Last weekend I spent 2 days with Dave Wood and a bunch of incredible people doing his Calm Under Pressure Workshop. It was the best investment I could have made into myself at just the right time. The last few years have been tough on all of us. Coming straight out of a pandemic
into global recession and a string of natural disasters plus everything else going on in our personal lives… it’s clearly not getting easier. It was a testing few days but Dave and his amazing team have given me new skills to cope with that stress. I highly recommend this investment in yourself for anyone who constantly feels like their head is just bobbing above water”.
“My initial impression was the workshop was for athletes wanting the edge and the ability to control more of the stress response. This course is for EVERYONE. I want all my friends and family to experience this course.
Dave and his team had an incredible way of knitting a group of strangers together in a mater of moments, delivering a powerful and meaningful two days of jam packed brilliant and evidence based research plus valuable experience he and his team have learnt by trial and error in the field of high stress performance.
I feel incredibly lucky to have had the experience of learning such valuable information, best of all, we were able to start implementing these techniques straight away practically. Couldn’t recommend it enough.”
“Recently, I was fortunate to take part in a Calm Under Pressure workshop as both a participant and a presenter. My focus in research is stress, resilience and measures that can demonstrate and report on these. Dave and I have completed research in this area and the results were reinforced from what I observed in the Calm Under Pressure workshop. I see a sound basis in science coupled with an incredible delivery. Dave and team are a valuable resource for those seeking to better understand stress and the avenues that best address it.
I was looking at how to improve my performance when you’re in that moment under pressure and trying to explore the space between thought and action, being more reflective in that time rather than reactive to the situation in front of you.
I was really worried in fact I even emailed the organisers about whether I was the right fit for this workshop. I was worried about my physical abilities, but actually this workshop just uses your own physical limits to explore you under stress so it doesn’t really matter whether you’re a top performing athlete or just a normal person from that point of view. This workshop’s really about mental skills rather than your physical ability.
You need to be uncomfortable to grow as a person and I think it’s very easy particularly as you get mid career or a little bit later to just sit in your comfort zone, but as a person that doesn’t allow you to get better so I’m really pleased I came. I came curious to see what I could learn and I’ve really enjoyed the weekend.
There’s so many things in work and life that are outside your control and you can get become very frustrated with them. Having these tools to pause, reflect and reframe these threats or frustrations as challenges and things to overcome and then participate in a positive way I think will help me more be more engaged at work and life.
The weekend was a perfect mix of science based short lectures (I appreciated Dave’s no BS approach to delivering these) with intermittent physical and mental practices dedicated to breathing and calming the mind…first in calm states, then in a variety of more stressful states. Of course, some of these states were harder than others (and different for everyone). For sure, the icebath was my nemesis – something I am now keen to overcome.
The other 20 (roughly) participants were from all walks of life. Surprisingly, I felt 100% at ease in the group within the first few minutes. I felt fully comfortable being as chatty or muted as I wanted. Seeing as I am constantly chatting with people every day…clients, staff, patients etc, it was somewhat of a relief to feel like I could sink in to the quieter version of myself for a couple of days.
You don’t need to be an athlete (or anything close to this) to do the workshop. I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t benefit in some way from this workshop.
My main tip for someone considering doing this workshop, is to go without ego. You will get the most benefit if you let your guards down and be willing to be a bit vulnerable and honest with yourself from the very start.
“What you’ve built and are building is special. The tools and mindset you’re teaching for people to perform at their best is world class. Thank you to you and your team for a truly great weekend.
Every aspect was nothing short of brilliant. As I sit here on the beach tonight, I find myself reflecting on the days experiences. I took a moment to regulate my state, grounded in bare feet and embracing a sense of gratitude for the journey of the day. Every ounce of effort I put in today was at its fullest – a realisation that underscores the importance of maintaining a balanced state.
I used the 5 breaths 5 minutes technique this afternoon to great effect and simply changed my state. Nothing was grossly bad but knowing I have this tool and others will be a game changer. I’ve written my course notes along with personal actions and will commit to bringing them to life.
My recommendation to anyone reading this; get on board, and head his way. You don’t have to rev high all day, every day.”
